Prostitution is a global phenomenon requiring immediate intervention. Fluctuating opinions surround two different views on this social problem: punishment vs. rehabilitation. Individuals have different perspectives on why prostitution exists. Some see prostitution as a choice and others view this social issue as involuntary; these conflicting perspectives on prostitution influence individuals’ opinion on how this issue should be handled/solved (A Personal Choice; Prostitution, 2014). The legal punishment intervention surrounds around the idea of legal consequences, such as incarceration. Those who†¦show more content†¦It has been demonstrated that somewhere around 700,000 and two million women are trafficked for work and sexual misuse yearly, with an expected 1.2 million young women trafficked into the worldwide sex (Minnick, 2012). Substantive policies alter the output of services (e.g. market relation) while â€Å"procedural influences the processes and membership of policy actors involved with policy-making† (Minnick, 2012). Millions of women and children are forced into sex trafficking, this untimely affecting the number of those who engage in prostitution. A clarification of intervention is needed in order to improve and eliminate the social issues of prostitution. Prostitution has a long history in society and is one of the eldest professions, yet many do not agree with the moral and social validity of the sex business. There are, obviously, the individuals who consider sex holy and its deal a transgression, and there are libertarians who are re ady to acknowledge almost any level of sexual opportunity. Plenty of people have views that lie somewhere in between, and they are fighting over the fairness, regulation, and even the precise definition of what advocates and practitioners increasingly refer to as sex work.
