Writing A Sample Gradaute Essay

Writing A Sample Gradaute EssayAs a Graduate of the Masters Degree program in Psychology, my graduation ceremony included a short, 1-page sample of a Gradaute Essay that was to be used for the event. The sample was for my speech but I used it as the basis for my actual graduation speech. In the month since the speech, I have been thinking about this important first step in becoming a successful graduate student and how it was conducted. In particular, I have been thinking about how well it was planned. After all, I had an outline of what I wanted to say before I ever got to my speech. All of my speeches are written in advance so the writing process is done beforehand and I can get started right away. Unfortunately, for this graduation ceremony, my speech outline included some additional material and that added material was not given to me to use. It was something that the committee decided to provide to me after I graduated. I asked about this and was told that it was part of the 'norm al student ritual' of sending out an outline. So why was it necessary to send me one anyway? Why not just allow me to start writing my speech the minute I finished my thesis? Was I supposed to have an outline because the committee expected me to have a plan of attack for my speech and I was not ready to accept that? When I received the outline, it seemed odd that they would ask me to submit a formal outline for my speech rather than doing it during the course of the graduation ceremony. It seemed a little bit presumptuous, and I wondered what their expectations were. Shouldn't they have been expecting me to be more prepared by then? After thinking about this, I realized that this method of preparing a speech seems quite natural for a new graduate. This is especially true when it comes to the writing of a term paper, but that does not mean that it should be used for a graduation speech. Since I did not have any student work, I decided that I would write the sample by hand.Using my word processor, I wrote the outline in question, followed by the introduction, body, conclusion, and footnotes. In other words, I wrote this speech by hand. While I could have gone to a school library and found the correct outlines, that seemed too formal and impersonal. In addition, my graduate program in psychology is very informal and not very formal. This is not the same at a formal university or school where I might expect the same practices.
